I joined the Vanderbilt University Athletics staff in November as a Learning Services Coordinator (previously at Utah State University). In May 2021, received my Master of Science in Digital Social Media at the University of Southern California, Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. However, my roots extend to the Pacific Northwest. My undergrad was spent at the University of Oregon, School of Journalism and Communication with focuses in public relations and sports photojournalism, as well as a minor in ethnic studies.
I have traveled and covered NCAA football, track and field events (including the 2016 USATF Olympic Trials), basketball, softball, marathons, and more! Additionally, I have worked in college athletics as an assistant learning specialist to student-athletes, a football ambassador, and as a PR and marketing coordinator for a men’s swimwear company in LA. They are wonderful experiences that have allowed me to build my portfolio, create relationships with people of the industry, and explore new ideas.
Why Sports?
Athletics have a vast effect and important role in the lives of many. My wish is to see athletes reach their potential beyond their participation in sport. I have always been fascinated by the power athletes have over their audiences through their ability to invest time, passion, and money into actions that spark debate and demand cultural change.
Quick Fun Facts:
- I once hiked 16 miles up a mountain in 111-degree heat (…and met two bears along the way).
- Kerri Walsh-Jennings and Misty May-Treanor are my favorite Olympic duo of all time.
- Space Jam is one of my favorite sports movies.
